Secrets of Successful Recruiting
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recruiting is not about running through hundreds of people to find out who will last. Instead, it’s about being clear on your intent and attracting individuals that are perfect team members. Recruiting can be exciting, interesting and fun, not a struggle! Here are some points to help you in this part of your business.
Watch Your Thoughts, Feelings and Words About Recruiting
Thoughts lead to feelings, feelings lead to words, words lead to actions and actions lead to results. This is the Law of Attraction – what are you attracting with your thoughts and feelings? If you think that recruiting is difficult or if you think you have to recruit high numbers to make money, then guess what happens? Your negative thoughts lead to feelings of pressure, which in turn lead to stressful words (I need to do this or I must do this). Next your words lead to actions that appear desperate to others, (pushing or pleading with others join), which ultimately leads to poor recruiting results.
Take a look at your recruiting results. Are you achieving the results you want? If not, step back and look at your thoughts about recruiting. Do you need to make a change in your thinking? If you love to interact with others and see recruiting as another way to do this, then you will have pleasant feelings about recruiting. This, in turns leads to positive words about recruiting (I really enjoying meeting and sharing with new people). These positives words lead to actions such as being curious and showing genuine interest in others. And this genuine interest attracts individuals that are the kind of person you want on your team.
Show Genuine Interest in the Other Person
To do this, you must learn as much as possible about the person to whom you're speaking. You do this by asking. Listen carefully, which means not formulating your response while the other person is talking! Most people are very willing to open up when someone shows a genuine interest in them. Learn what others want and then show them how your opportunity can help them get it. Spend some time getting to know the other person and letting them share their story. Ask questions to uncover their motivation and desires so that you will know how what you have to offer will best fit their particular situation. |
Make Giving to Others a Priority
If you come from the point of view of helping others, how you can best serve their needs, it takes the pressure off of “needing a recruit”. The more you give, the more you will receive. What if every person you met walked away with something that makes her/him feel better? It might be something as simple as a smile from you, a kind word or an attentive ear. Sponsoring or recruiting is about building long-term relationships not just short-term adding to your count. The main thing to remember in recruiting (whether its family, friends, or new contacts): The outcome must benefit both parties, always!
Set a Clear Intention
Set an intention of wanting to create happiness for both you (as the giver) and the other person (as the receiver). What’s the most important thing you want to come away with? Ask yourself, "If I could walk away from this conversation with only one thing, what would it be?" Your intention might be to have fun while connecting with others - providing value, sharing a resource, establishing a bond, or allowing the other person to be heard. State your intention out loud each day. For example, “I am having fun and easily attracting ideal team members at the perfect time!” |
Be Detached From the Outcome
Not everyone will join your team when you want them to. Know that you have set your intention, made the contact, listened intently, offered possibilities and then let it go. Feel good, (remember the first point), regardless of the outcome. There are infinite possibilities - often much better than we could imagine. Let go of trying to force a particular result and see what the Universe sends you! |
